i love the week between christmas and new year's eve. it's quiet and restorative.

christmas eve dinner...
homemade spaetzle with mushrooms, schnitzel, brussel sprouts, and carrots.
apple pie for dessert and mulled cider.
lots of good laughs, high spirits, and warm hearts.

preparing for a long night in the cold.



we brought out a blanket and stayed up till 3:30 am to watch the lunar eclipse.
the moon had a beautiful muddy red tint. it was a sight to see!

birthday lunch at chez panisse...
braised pork with buckwheat polenta and for dessert, a pink lady apple + meyer lemon tart.
it was one of the best and most memorable meals i've ever had.
